A 23rd Birthday

My birthday was last week and I was completely spoiled by my family and darling husband! It was an entire week of festivities which is a dream come true for me! It started with our dinner group of friends making me a cake, then Daniel and I scored a date to the jazz game that week. On my actual birthday I got to sleep in and had breakfast in bed and then Daniel and I went to the Natural History Museum, a first for both of us! The night ended at dinner with my family!

Daniel surprised me and got us a night at the Little America. It was a stressful week in school and I had to do homework on my birthday so the next night we took off to downtown for a night of relaxation. We went out to dinner, swam, and finished the final episodes of 24. We have been watching 24 for the past year and were sad to finish but are so excited a new season comes out in a month! We slept in the next morning and went then went to City Creek. It was exactly what we needed to get through the last couple weeks of school!

The celebrations continued with my sweet coworkers making cupcakes and giving me flowers. Then the Claflin celebrated my birthday for Sunday dinner with Dirty Diet Cokes and a cake!

Thank you to all who sent birthday wishes my way. I felt so loved and grateful for all the people I have in my life!

A Breath Before Graduation

I have three weeks left of school, not just for the semester but for life (I hope)! I have to keep telling myself this to help get me through each week. Papers, presentations, daily assignments, and tests are all on my mind. At the same time I have work, a piano recital, I am planning Young Women's camp for the summer, and trying to figure out what I will be doing for work this summer! So you could say there is a lot going on in my mind but the overwhelming thought is "only 3 more Tuesday's" and then life gets much easier! So here is what I am focusing on:

The mediating needs some work, and I have planned about 15 trips just in the past week! This is what I will be working on for the next 3 weeks, and I am betting I will finish school as one happy girl!

A Long Overdue Post

There has been a lot going on in the Claflin household the past month. We went to Palm Springs for President's Day Weekend for a quick getaway to the sun. It was also Valentine's Day, we had a great time celebrating! We play tennis, hung by the pool, ate good food, and enjoyed a relaxing couple of days!

Daniel's cousin owns a sandwich shop in Palm Springs so we went and surprised her!

Thursday nights have turned into our date night. It is the one night during the week that Daniel doesn't have work so we always try and take advantage! We were getting really into the Olympics so we decided to go practice our ice skating skills at the galavin center!

For the 5 years we have known each other we have never been skiing! We finally decided to get on the mountain. We went to Alta for the $5 after 3pm deal. We got there a little late and only made it for 2 runs but it was worth it and we had a blast!

The weather has been beautiful lately! We have had the last couple of Friday mornings off so we have taken advantage with tennis and bike rides!

My darling husband brought me home these beautiful flowers the other night. Fresh flowers just might be my very favorite thing to have! We also inherited a new side table from Daniel's parents and found this darling lamp for it. The Schneider girls have started a new work out class called obsidian! It's a slideboard workout and we are loving it so far!

When your parents anniversary is on St. Patrick's Day it is kind of required that you celebrate it and go all out. My mom had gotten us all our green outfits for the day. I made a full green dinner of shepherd's pie with green mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, and salad! For desert we topped it off with Mint Chocolate Chip shakes!

I promise I will start blogging more updates! Life is good and we just past our 4 months of marriage mark!

A Lot of Weekend Projects

Little by little we have been making our house into a home. Each weekend I have picked a new project to tackle and after this last weekend I think we are finally done! We had a lot of things to get hung and framed and so on. Let me tell you, Daniel has LOVED these projects (wink, wink). So our bare walls are now covered! Here are the finished projects:
Found this darling New York pillow at Pottery Barn in honor of our NYC Honeymoon!

This chalkboard was at our wedding done by the one and only Rem Plewe! My parents framed it for us for Christmas! It is by far the best present I have gotten!

Our wedding picture collage from our wedding! My mom had the Family Proclamation framed for us and the sketch of us on the top left was given to us by Daniel's brother!

We had a serious build up of boxes in our storage room! We finally got them all broken down and cleared out! Such a great feeling!!!

This is the last one we finished! Daniel's sister gave us this vinyl for our wedding and we decided to frame it so we can move it around! It is probably one of my favorite things we have hanging in our house! I LOVE it!

That's all for now! xoxo

A Birthday Post for the Birthday Queen

Happy Birthday Mom! It's your very favorite day of the year! Luckily you get to be in one of your favorite places (Palm Springs) to celebrate!

You are the light of every room, you are the energizer bunny of the family, you keep us all on our toes, and your everyone's biggest supporter! The world would be a much darker place without you! You have accepted Daniel into the family with no question or doubt and I will always be grateful for that.
You are my favorite person to talk on the phone with, get a drink with, and run any errand with! I know you are having the best birthday weekend with Dad and your best friends!
We can't wait for you to get home so we can celebrate with you!
Love, love, love you!

A something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue!

The night before my wedding my parents sat me and Daniel down and handed me a box. As I opened it I received my something old, new, borrowed, and blue! My mom is thoughtful and creative and didn't miss a thing! I even had a sixpence in my shoe!

Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

My something old was the clip in my hair, it is the clip that my grandma wore on her wedding day.

My something new was my necklace. It is a maple leaf, the theme of our wedding. My sweet Dad had it made for me.
For something blue, my mom had my dad and Daniel cut a piece of blue fabric from one of their dress shirts. She had them cut into heart and sewn on the inside of my wedding dress over my heart.

My something borrowed came from my mom and was used in the temple so it is not photographed here.

What I love about these details is that not everyone knew about them but from all the details of my wedding, these were by far my favorite. I will treasure them all my life.

Wedding Pictures: The Reception

We finally got our wedding pictures back and I can't stop looking at them! I love going through them and reliving that day over and over again! I still think about our wedding day every day and I always get the biggest smile on my face! So here comes a major picture overload! Just keep scrolling down! This is the 3rd post of them!
